Specimen Code Number: DE Bisbee Malachite
Learn more about: Malachite
Rare large 2-1/2" Crystals
Size: Cabinet
12.0x8.0x8.0 cm
Location: Bisbee,
Warren District,
Cochise Co., Arizona
Description: This specimen is a wonderful example of chatoyant fibrous green malachite that has completely replaced numerous very large azurite crystals. It's an old collection Bisbee piece with some of the largest azurite crystals I have seen. The large prominent main crystal in the center measures about 7.5cm x 3.0cm. Look closely to see the crystal outline. It's really a group of large pseudorphed crystals clearly from the very early days of mining in Bisbee. Specimen weighs 1lb, 8.5oz (706 grams). An antique Bisbee piece probably circa pre-1900. Lavinsky old collection label included.
