Specimen Code Number: DE Inspiration chrys

Old description
"Gem Silica" rough
Size: Small Cabinet
10.0x7.5x5.7 cm
Location: Inspiration Mine,
Globe Miami District,
Gila County, Arizona
Description: Inspiration Mine in Arizona produced some of the most beautiful silicated chrysocolla and malachite that was named "Gem Silica" back in the 1950's and 1960's. Maybe earlier than that. The material rapidly disappeared due to demand from gem lapidary users. This specimen is an example of the rough material that shows the blue, black, and green colors with a 6cm wide druzy quartz lined cavity. Very few of these "mineral specimens" survived. It's from an old 1950's Collection, Ex. George Pierson of Central California. Beautiful blues and greens throughout.
