This is a very large single crystal of black spinel! The crystal form is dodecahedral modified by octahedral faces. There are some contacts on the crystal faces where it grew adjacent to other spinel crystals and there are a few rough edges but show me a larger single spinel crystal from California! Note the old US Silver Dollar (for scale only). |
