Description: |
Trinitite, also known as atomsite or Alamogordo glass, is the glassy residue left on the desert floor after the Trinity nuclear bomb test on July 16, 1945, near Alamogordo, New Mexico. It is usually a light green, although red trinitite and black trinitite also formed. It is mildly radioactive but safe to handle. It has been more and more difficult to find after the Army made collecting at the site illegal. This is the last (and largest) one out of the few that I was able to obtain recently. As we always do, we are offering free shipping for all 'buy-it-now' purchases shipped to domestic (USA) locales from B & L Minerals in this auction, discounted shipping for international locations. |
